Wendy Williams diagnosis

Former talk show host Wendy Williams has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and progressive aphasia. According to US Weekly, Wendy has been in a care facility receiving treatment.

Aphasia is a disorder which impacts how you communicate, mostly in your speech, reading and writing. It can often occur after a head injury or a stroke.

The Association of Frontotemporal Degeneration, which provides education and resources for this and other conditions, defines frontotemporal dementia as “Uncharacteristic personality changes, apathy, and unexplained struggles with decision-making, movement, speaking or language comprehension
are the most common symptoms. Often people appear physically healthy despite the neurodegeneration.” As the disease progresses, there is an increased difficulty in planning or organizing activities. The person may behave inappropriately in social or work settings, and have trouble communicating with others, or relating to loved ones.
