Well, just this past Saturday, the AZGOP voted in a shiny new chairperson. This happened shortly after the release of the viral audio of Jeff Dewit (former chairman) allegedly bribing Kari Lake, followed by his quick resignation. The new chairwoman is Gina Swoboda. She had been the 3rd Vice Chair, and also known for being the Chief Election Policy Officer and Arizona Legislature Policy Advisor. There have been arguments, attacks and A LOT of bickering going on behind the scenes since Gina was voted in Saturday night. However, the infighting within the AZGOP is nothing new, which is likely to be the reason that there are have been several factions formed within the party. The term RINO gets thrown around quite often. There appears to be a split between who are the “real patriots”, versus who are the real “America Firsts”. Then there is the further distinction of who is part of the “establishment” and who isn’t.
During an interview on Monday, Gina explained that there is division within the party. She even openly stated that the AZGOP had little money. It’s truly hard to understand ho so much dysfunction and money mismanagement can happen within a political party that maintains to this day how important it is for the party to remain in the majority.
